Mountain Lion Surprises Man in Home

A man returning to his home in rural western North Dakota was surprised when he came inside to find a mountain lion kitten. The man grabbed his firearm by the door and dispatched the 38 pound cat. After dispatching the cat he did call Game and Fish who came out to investigate.

The mountain lion had killed a couple of the homeowner's domestic cats, and there were more in the house. They believe the smell of the cats may have been what attracted the mountain lion to the home. It is a very unusual case. The homeowner left his garage door open, and when he came home the one leading into his house was open as well.

Game and Fish do not believe the man was in any danger, but he was well within his rights on dispatching the cat. From North Dakota Game and Fish.
