Hunting Season for Swan? No

A kayaker near Long Island park in New York found a swan impaled with an arrow, Friday. The arrow went all the way through, by the swan's wings, an end sticking out on both sides of the swan's body. The swan was rescued by Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center in Hampton Bays and at first the swan's condition was touch and go. The kayaker who found the swan visited him and named him Cygnus, after the swan shaped constellation. The Suffolk County SPCA is offering $1000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Wow someone must have thought

Wow someone must have thought that one the largest snow goose in history.  We had a similar story here in Coplorado but it was a Canada Goose with an arrow in it.  The spen about two months trying to catch this goose and finally did and removed the arrow and the goose was fine.  Hopefully the dumbass that shot it does not poach alot because alot of arrows are numbered with serial number and it could possibly come back to biy him if he is out the shooting what they are not suppose to be.

This is disgusting,  like was

This is disgusting,  like was said even though this was in no way the work of a true hunter we are the ones thay will get blamed for it. Some people just feel the need to kill or injure for no logical reason. Hopefully they will be caught and be punished but it's not veryy likely. And if a person truly felt the need to hunt swans there are many states that do have a season for them. I want to hunt many different things myself but this one I have no desire for as the just don't seem right to me.

We had a incident nearly identical here in colorado a few years ago with a duck or a goose in the Denver area. That one survived as well but it shows that stupidity is a nationwide situation.

Shooting a swan?  C'mon

Shooting a swan?  C'mon now.....

More and more examples of why we, as hunters, get a bad rap.  Even though this was probably nothing more than a delinquint, or a flat out poacher, the average joe public will get the impression that it was a "hunter".

Let's hope that one of his buddies is a true "sportsman", and turns him in.  We are facing enough attacks against our pasttime, we don't need any idiots hurting our cause.

It is unfortunate that that

It is unfortunate that that people shoot animals just to shoot something. Makes us hunters look bad.

I hope whoever shot this swan is caught, most likely they probably wont unless he told a friend who is money hungry.

But on the good side it looks like the swan is going to be ok.
