8 Months After Completing Hunter Education Yields Trophy
Kyle Schultz and his father Mike were spending a dismal morning on family land near Arcadia, Wisconsin. Kyle a 12 year old, was starting to get a little bored with not seeing any deer. Kyle just completed his hunter's education 8 months ago, but was ready to move on to something else that day. Mike suggested taking a lunch break and Kyle eagerly accepted.
Mike had an inkling that in a brushy area by the family hunting shack there would be a good place for a massive deer to be. Though he nor family had never seen anything to promote this idea, he still had the feeling, so on the way back they drove by to check it out.
Mike spotted something first. He and Kyle got out to spot and stalk. Mike and Kyle agreed that if they were spending their time spotting and stalking a stick, no one else would ever be told the story. The two continued getting closer, waiting for movement. Kyle looked through his scope when about 30 yards away but still could not make a clear identification. Father and son continued talking hoping to get some movement. Suddenly Kyle saw movement, and a large buck went bolting out of the brush. Kyle raised his firearm and fired.
Mike and Kyle followed the buck to a ravine. Kyle had bagged himself a trophy buck, one hunters might spend years in pursuit of. The buck had 19 points, and weighed 250 lbs. Grandfather Lloyd showed up after receiving a phone call. He arrived on the scene to check out the biggest buck ever spotted in four generations of hunting on the family's land.
When Kyle went to school the next morning, of course he had his stories, and no one believed him, but he had his pictures to prove it. Grandpa Lloyd may also be getting the head mount for Kyle for Christmas. From LaCrosseTribune.com.
